Your child’s safety during online tutoring

Before you entrust your child’s learning to a stranger, you want to know exactly what stands behind it. This is how verification works and what the procedure looks like when something causes concern.

How tutor verification works

  • A profile photo with a visible face

A tutor’s profile is published only with a photo in which their face is visible. The photo has to show a real person, not an avatar.
  • The Verified badge: an identity document and qualifications

The tutor sends an identity document and a document confirming qualifications. Once an administrator approves them, the profile gets the “Verified” badge, visible to you before you book the first lesson.
  • Contact only through the platform

A tutor may not move contact with a child outside Sprelli or exchange private contact details with them. Lessons take place in LessonRoom, and communication goes through the internal messenger.
  • Rules based on the minors protection act

Our standards draw on the solutions in the Act of 13 May 2016 on counteracting threats of sexual crime and protecting minors (the so-called Kamilek’s Law). We publish the full text of the document openly.

If something worries you

Anyone, including a parent, can report a suspicion of inappropriate behaviour to the minors protection coordinator. A report starts the procedure: securing information, restricting the suspected person’s access to lessons where needed, and informing the child’s guardians, unless that would endanger the child’s wellbeing.

Parents’ questions about safety

The tutor has sent an identity document and a document confirming qualifications, and an administrator has approved them. Education and experience in the profile description are the tutor’s own description, not a document that anyone has checked. You see the badge on the profile before you book the first lesson.
Yes. Lessons take place in LessonRoom, and you can be present or nearby. We recommend gradually giving older children more independence, but the decision is always yours.

No. The rules expressly forbid moving contact outside the platform and exchanging private contact details (phone, messengers, social media). All educational contact takes place through Sprelli’s internal channels.
