Are you studying and looking for a job that does not clash with lectures? Tutoring is a solution that fits studies: you set your own times, and your knowledge from your studies gets put to use.

Why is tutoring the ideal job for a student?

Flexibility is key. You decide when you are available. Exam session? You suspend lessons. A free semester? You take more students. No employer on a full-time contract will give you such freedom.

Income grows directly in proportion to the number of lessons, and every extra hour is an hour of lessons, not of commuting. No commute, no uniform, no fixed hours.

You teach what you are studying right now. A maths student giving maths tutoring does not lose time learning unfamiliar material – you consolidate your own knowledge by explaining it to others. This is the so-called tutor effect: you learn most deeply when you have to explain something to someone.

How much an hour costs, and how much is left

On Sprelli rates start at PLN 50 an hour, and half of the profiles are below PLN 68 (as of 20 October 2026). As a student you usually start nearer the lower end and raise the price with every good review.

The platform charges a flat 15% commission on a completed lesson, with no plans or monthly fees. The rest is yours and arrives after the lesson, without having to chase it.

How much comes out per month depends on how many lessons you fit around your classes. That is the one variable we do not know, so instead of guessing, work it out in the commission calculator.

What do you need to know to tutor?

You do not have to be an expert in the whole subject. You have to know the material one level above your student. A first-year maths student can easily take a student to the basic matura.

More important than knowledge are patience, the ability to explain “differently” and methodological flexibility. If your student does not understand through explanation A, do you have explanations B, C and D in your head? That is 80% of a tutor’s job.

How to find your first students?

On a platform like Sprelli it is enough to complete your profile and wait. The algorithm connects you with students looking for a tutor in your subject and level. You can offer your first lessons at the market price, because the platform attracts students anyway.

Alternatively: Facebook groups (schools, matura classes), ads on USOS or student portals. But recommendations and a platform always give a better and more lasting effect.

A tutor’s work and studies: how to combine them?

Breaks between classes, afternoons and weekends are natural windows for lessons. On Sprelli you set your availability calendar once and students book only your free times – with no phoning, negotiating or arranging by hand.

Tutoring and taxes for a student

If you are under 26, income up to the statutory annual limit is exempt from income tax (the PIT-0 relief). Check the current limit at podatki.gov.pl or with an accountant. You settle tutoring as income from activity performed personally, without setting up a company.
